Dr. Megha Shrivastava is currently an Assistant Professor at RV University, Bengaluru, India. She pursued her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations at the Manipal Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India. She has been a recipient of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taiwan Fellowship. She has served as a visiting scholar at the Institute of National Defence for Security Research, Taipei, Taiwan. She is also a recipient of the 2025 US-India Artificial Intelligence Fellowship awarded by the Observer Research Foundation America, Washington, DC, and the Network of Advanced Study of China Fellowship awarded by the Bengaluru-based Takshashila Institution. She is also an Affiliate Research Fellow at the International Centre for Cultural Studies, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. She is also a member of the Transatlantic Research Network and the Network of Advanced Study of China. Her research interests include China’s ICT policies, US technology policy towards China, great power conflict, AI governance and global technology policy.
My research work has resulted in publications in peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed journals such as China Report (Scopus Q3), India Quarterly (Scopus Q3), Strategic Analysis (Scopus Q3), and Cogent Social Sciences (Scopus Q2), and Issues and Studies: A Social Science Quarterly on China, Taiwan and East Asian Affairs (Scopus Q2).
I regularly contribute to academic and policy debates on commentary issues through contributing my opinions in leading international outlets, including The Diplomat, Lowy Institute, The National Interest, Global Taiwan Institute, East Asia Forum, etc.
I have previously participated in Raisina debates (New Delhi), Raisina Middle East (Abu Dhabi), Yerevan Dialogue (Yerevan), Max Planck summer workshop of political economy (for doctoral and post-doctoral scholars) (Cologne, Germany), Taipei Security Dialogue (Taipei) as an official delegate. As a part of my ORF Fellowship, I had the opportunity to officially deliver policy recommendations to the United States State Department in September 2025. I have participated in focused research groups gathered in Germany and South Korea to examine the state of the field.
Research Interests
Research explores the intersection of geopolitics and technology policy development of major powers, especially China, Taiwan, and the US. I also explore the emerging potential of middle powers like India in the global technology landscape.
